Rhythm Guitarist
Name Kim Robertson D.O.B 19th March 1966 E-mail lord_odd@hotmail.com Bio Early years: Well, it’s kinda
embarrassing but I was born into a musical family but managed to be completely
unmusical for all my childhood. I tried to lug a cello around for about a year
in high school but it just didn’t happen. My mum even tried to teach me piano
and I did OK for about six months, but it was too much like hard work so I
dropped it. Musical background: I
picked up the guitar first when I was about 20 and even got some lessons from a
guy that I worked with. I got this classical guitar and played and played and
played (fingers didn’t bleed tho) and managed to learn a bunch of open chords
and a couple of bar chords which was great. When
it came to strumming to the songs on my tape deck I didn’t do too good.
Couldn’t keep a rhythm to save my life. Argeppio worked OK with heaps of
practice but I still sucked when it came down to it. I changed jobs and lost
contact with the guy who was teaching me and kept on learning a bit out of
books. Never really got too far though. About
7 years ago I joined a medieval society and took up the musical trail again,
this time learning a bit of vocal and a lot of recorder *sigh* and tin
whistle. Oh yeah, learned to read music and learned how to keep a beat there
too…. Even wrote a couple of toones. I got a guitar again (thanks Jules) and
stuffed around a bit in there and started playing a bit better, even if the ole
repertoire was a bit skinny. Then
Darin came up with this idea about forming a band and wanted a rhythm guitar and
here we are. Family: Hmmm.
Well, mummy dearest was an Opera singer when I was a kid. Went off around the
country and overseas to sing. My school holidays were spent in rehearsal rooms
and theatres with the other opera brats running around prop stores and trying to
break into the theatre’s junk food cabinets. Dad
worked as a stage manager and later as head lighting tech for QPAT. My uncle was
a Baritone as well and most of my childhood friends were all musical. Sheesh,
you don’t know how hard it was being a ‘no-talent’ amongst that lot. *LOL*
Luckily the older brother couldn’t even hold a tune on a kazoo (a what?!?). And Julia (sweet Julia) is my wife! Other interests: Well, yeah. The medieval
society. I still do a little singing and some whistle blowing from time to time.
Most of the time I gad about in tights or whatever kissing damsel’s hands and
such. The rest of them time I do web sites, some even during work time…. Yes. Errr. Which one? |
