Celtic Gods, Celtic Magic 2004

Pagan Pride Day 2003

Celtic Gods, Celtic Magic 2003

June 5th - Club Psycho, Alliance Hotel, Brisbane QLD

This gig was a first for us. Our first real "Pub" gig and our first gig with Mark as our lead guitarist. The gig went off with a few minor hiccups but was pretty cool and seemed to go down well with the audience. No strings or skins broken at this one YAY! The guys from Headspace were awesome as well! We hope to stay in contact with them and gig with them again!

May 1st, 2nd and 3rd - Celtic Gods, Celtic Magic 2004 , Delaney's Creek OLD

Mortal Rose Makes Celtic Camels Cry

Celtic Gods, Celtic Magic was a total blast! This year was bigger and better than last year. The team of elves, camel jockey and head troll far outdid themselves, overcoming the odds and hiccups with grace and style to bring us an event to set new standards in the community. There was so much to do, see and participate in that it could have easily filled another few days.

The entertainers this year were wonderful! We had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Big Jiggy once again. Those guys really know how to have a good time. We were all amused by the witty comedy of Martin Pearson and his Tolkien "Musical". the Logan City Belly dancers were wonderful and created a wonderful atmosphere complete with Kim's Camels in attendance. The Sahara Moon Belly dancers also put on a great show and had many of the ladies getting up to try belly dancing themselves. Last but by no means least we were all entertained by the dynamic Michael Lamb, DJ to the gods.

We had a wonderful time and were very impressed with the event as a whole. After our set, we were informed that during a couple of our "darker" songs, Kim's Camels were crying. Something in our music has stirred up something within the camels and caused them to cry out. May be we are able to communicate with them or may be they couldn't stand us, either way we had a marked effect on them. Bob broke a skin and a cymbal stand and Kim broke a string so we must have been playing hard! We will be back at the site again later this year for the Beltane Masquerade Ball and plan to be at next years Celtic Gods, Celtic Magic.

If you get the opportunity, I recommend you join QWAC (Queensland Workshops and Conferences). They are providing some of the greatest events in the Pagan Calendar and are well worth their weight in gold. Please consider it seriously as your membership allows you to attend Celtic Gods, Celtic Magic and the Beltane Ball each year.

September 27th - Pagan Pride Day ,King George Square, Brisbane QLD

September 27th - "I survived Pagan Pride Day",  The Healer, Warner Street, The Valley, QLD

Pagan Pride Day  was bigger, better and brighter than last year. We had a wonderful time again this year, as I am sure did everyone else who went. We had the rare opportunity to share a stage with a great number of diverse artists including Wendy Rule, Big Jiggy and Spiral Dance at Pagan Pride Day. The Valkiries made their debut I believe, and were first up on the day which can be a very daunting prospect. Wendy Rule provided a spectacular performance in opening circle at the event, braving the heat of a midday set and finally closing circle at the end of the day. Big Jiggy were a huge hit with their tantalizing tribal beats and energetic performance. They had everyone tapping their feet at the very least and many dancing around King George Square. Spiral Dance made the long haul up from 15ºC rainy Adelaide to brave the 32ºC scorching heat and high humidity of Brisbane. We had a great time chatting with them and have made some firm friends there. We hope to be able to have the opportunity to play with them again some time.

The "I survived Pagan Pride Day" benefit was held at "The Healer" night club to raise funds for the Abused Child Trust and also to assist in financing Pagan Pride Day 2004. Wendy Rule, Spiral Dance, Big Jiggy and ourselves went for another round of music and entertainment as did Amargi Wolf who made her debut that night. Congratulations must go to Amargi for sharing her talents and taking the first great step in playing in public. She made a great start and showed us all her talent and unique voice. I for one will be looking forward to hearing more from her. Big Jiggy rocked the roof of the Healer and had everyone up and dancing as they played their hearts out after a very long and tiring day. Wendy Rule also gave a great performance and was well received by the audience. Unfortunately I had to leave before Spiral Dance played, but from all reports they were sensational and really connected with the room.

Congratulations to Anji, Mina and the rest of the Pagan Pride Day Volunteers team for an exceptionally well done job. A special thanks to Neo, the stage manager for all his hard work and effort. He made what could have been a chaotic and stressful day, a pure joy. We really appreciate his professionalism and his care in assisting both Mortal Rose and all the other musicians in attendance. Next Years Pagan Pride Day will be on the 18th of September 2004. Mark it in your diary and don't let this opportunity to pass you by.
